Teacher Slain in Northern Belize

Meanwhile Orange Walk Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the murder of a teacher in that municipality. The body of 39-year-old Marcelo Azueta was found yesterday morning. Officer in Charge of Orange Walk Police, Senior Superintendent Selvin Tillett shared what their initial investigations have revealed.

“On Sunday July 24th at 5:15am acting upon information received Orange Walk police visited an area on St.Peter Street next to the football field in Orange Walk Town where they saw the motionless body of a male person lying in an open area with a single visible cut wound to the right side of his neck. Investigations reveal that sometime around 3am someone who was passing by heard a loud cry coming from the area where the body was found. Shortly thereafter he saw two male persons on bicycles leaving the scene. The motivation of this incident is yet to be determined. The scene has been processed and the body has been transported to the Northern Regional Hospital. The deceased was identified as one Marcelo Azuetta, a 39 year old Belizean teacher.”
