NEMO Gets $100K of Supplies from UNDP

The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) along with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) donated one hundred thousand Belize dollars worth of materials and supplies to the National Emergency Management Organization and the City Emergency Management Organization this morning to aid in hurricane relief efforts. Deputy Resident Representative for UNDP, Karen Bernard spoke with us about the donation.

There to receive the materials was CEMO’s representative, Councilor Phillip Willoughby. He spoke with us about how they will use the supplies.

Half of the contribution was given by the UNHCR, Guilia Battistella Associate protection Officer spoke with us about the needs they have been observing after Hurricane Earl stating that the two main needs people are facing are assistance to recover their damaged fields and school resources.

The handover was conducted at Militia Hall on the Georg Price Highway.
