Police Clarifies Post-Carnival Rumors

After a shooting on Princess Margaret Drive at the end of the Carnival Parade on Saturday evening, a number of rumors and allegations surfaced. This morning Police office at the Eastern Division North called a Press Conference to discuss the shooting and clarify allegations. Assistant Commissioner of Police Dezeree Phillips explained what happened.

Phillips also spoke about the proceedings undergoing with the off duty officer that fired the shot.

On Saturday evening, a woman went on social media claiming that her two year old daughter had been injured by a gunshot. ACP Phillips said, given the nature of the claim, she took it personal, and investigated it for herself.

ACP Phillips stated that the licensed firearm the off duty police was carrying has been sent to forensics to ascertain how many bullets were fired.
