Eyes will be on the schools come Monday, October 3 to see how many teachers and parents will participate in the planned industrial action by the Belize National Teachers Union.  BNTU President, Luke Palacio told the media today that there is no truth to what the Education Minister Patrick Faber is saying regarding this strike having no labor related issue.

Past President of the BNTU, George Frazer spoke briefly at this afternoon’s media brief where he noted that the intimidation and union busting tactics employed by the Barrow administration is unprecedented.

Despite our asking for an idea of what the plan is beyond Monday, Palacio says they will be issuing information accordingly.

The Ministry of Education is asking parents to not participate in the strike and to have their children attend classes.
