Before Senator Rocke introduced his motion, Lead Opposition Senator, Eamon Courtenay pointed out that Immigration Minister Godwin Hulse should not participate in today’s Senate Meeting. Courtenay’s reasoning was that Hulse was named in the auditor General report and as Minister of Immigration he should recuse himself from all senate proceedings with regards to the Senate Select Committee inquiry.

The motion was seconded by PUP Senator Valerie Woods however, the question was not put forward because the Vice President of the Senate who was sitting in for an absent Lee Mark Chang, was of the view that not enough notice was given and so the motion was suspended until the next Senate Meeting.
