US SOUTHCOM Seeks Peace in the Region

Commander of the US Southern Command, Admiral Kurt Tidd was in-country yesterday where he handed over thousands of dollars in post hurricane Earl Relief efforts.  Aside from joining the US Ambassador to Belize, Carlos Moreno in the handing over to Belize’s National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO), Admiral Tidd also met with the head of the Belize Coast Guard, Admiral John Borland and the BDF Commander, General David Jones.  CEO in the Ministry of Defense, Felix Enriquez spoke to the press about yesterday’s meeting.

 

According to a release from the US Embassy, USSOUTHCOM is completing four more projects and Belize can expect additional ribbon cutting ceremonies in the upcoming weeks.  USSOUTHCOM is completing construction of a Regional Emergency Operation Centre and Disaster Relief Warehouse in Toledo.  Also, USSOUTHCOM is almost complete with an Emergency Shelter/Emergency Operation Centre in Crooked Tree and another Regional Emergency Operation Centre in Orange Walk.
