BNTU Takes Teaching to the Streets

The Belize National Teacher’s Union embarked on an educational campaign today going house to house and to different establishments to educate the public on the eight demands made by the BNTU that has led to tomorrow’s demonstration.  President of the Belize District branch Kathleen Flowers stated that the educational campaign had one sole objective.

Some teachers took the initiative further and instead of sitting out the strike at home went into different establishments to volunteer their time in commemoration of World Teachers’ Day; here is how Flowers explained it.

The home to home educational campaign was an initiative the Belize District Branch used during their strike in 2005. This time it was extended nationwide.
