5 Injured in Holiday Weekend Shootings

Two separate shooting incidents in Belize City at the beginning of the long holiday weekend left five men hospitalized. The first shooting occurred at the junction of Seagull and Raccoon Streets where two brothers, Angel and Florentino Ruiz were shot while the second shooting was on Electric Avenue where three including a Police Officer and a Belize Defense Force Soldier were injured. Assistant Commissioner of Police tells us about the shooting on Electric Avenue.


ACP Williams also commented on the shooting that left both Ruiz brothers at the hospital. Williams says that this case deals with the involvement of a new gang in Belize City.


Family of the Ruiz brothers spoke with Love News about the incident and said to be perplexed by the shooting.


Police say the incidents are not related. They continue investigating the incidents.
