While the teachers remain out of the classrooms, the Council of Management of the BNTU is seeking support from several other bodies including the churches. This morning BNTU representatives met with church leaders at the Roman Catholic Diocesan Office in Belize City. BNTU National President, Luke Palacio, told Love News that the purpose of the meeting was to ask the churches to do what it can to pressure the government to address the outstanding issues that the union has brought forward. The challenge is that while the Roman Catholic Diocese supports the teachers, it is also asking the teachers to return to the classrooms.

Love News also spoke to Bishop Christopher Glancy of the Roman Catholic Diocese.

The meeting had the participation of Bishop Dorrick Wright, Major Joliker Leandre of the Salvation Army and Pastor Lloyd Stanford of the Baptist Church.
