Senator Godwin Hulse is making history tonight as having served the shortest term in Government as the Minister of Home Affairs.  Hulse was recently moved from Natural Resources ministry to Home Affairs eighty days ago; and tonight he is once again being moved as the Office of Prime Minister has announced a change in Cabinet portfolios.  With the resignation of Gaspar Vega on October 17, there remained a void in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Fisheries, the Environment and Sustainable Development.  Hulse has now been named as Vega’s successor with the Prime Minister, Dean Barrow taking charge of the Belize Police Department.  The Prime Minister’s Deputy Minister will be Elodio Aragon Jr who previously held the post of Minister of State with responsibility for Youth, Sports and Culture.  According to the release from the Belize Press Office, Hulse will retain responsibility for Immigration with his Minister of State being Beverly Castillo for Immigration and his Minister of State in Agriculture being Dr Omar Figueroa.  The Prime Minister will relinquish the Ministry of the Public Service, Energy and Public Utilities and that will be taken over by the Honorable Hugo Patt as Minister of Labour, Local Government, Rural Development, Public Service, Energy and Public Utilities whilst Frank Mena remains Minister of State for Public Service, Energy and Public Utilities.  All other ministerial assignments remain the same and there are no changes to CEO positions.
