PM’s Word as Good as Gold on 13th Senator

Prime Minister Dean Barrow has signed the commencement order to appoint the thirteenth senator. According to a government release, the commencement order signed today is to give effect to the provisions relating to the appointment of the thirteenth senator pursuant to the Belize Constitution Sixth Amendment Act. Of note is that the order will take effect until January 20 of next year, three months from now. According to the Prime Minister, during those three months, consultations will be held with the NGO community to work out the mechanism for the selection of the thirteenth senator.
