Traffic Officer Freed of Charges in Fatal RTA

Thirty-five year old traffic officer Calvin Cumberbatch, who was charged with two counts of manslaughter by negligence and other traffic related charges for the death of his wife, Pamela Cumberbatch and Alfredo Navarette, was freed of all charges when he appeared today before Senior Magistrate Sharon Fraser and they were withdrawn by a directive from the DPP. The accident occurred on January 1, 2016, between mile five and mile six on Phillip Goldson Highway. Southside money lender Pamela “Ms Pam” Cumberbatch and 80 year old Navarette, died on the spot when a white Toyota Tundra pick-up truck, driven by Calvin Cumberbatch, collided head on with a Dodge Caravan, driven by Navarette. The couple were heading to Orange Walk, while Naverette was travelling from Burrell Boom to Belize City. Calvin received injuries and he was in a critical condition before he was released from the hospital.
