Bardalez Remanded for Firearm and Ammunition Offences

Eighteen year old Leroy Baldarez, a tour guide of a Rio Bravo Crescent address became an inmate of the Belize Central Prison today after he appeared before Magistrate Carlon Mendoza and pled not guilty to charges of kept firearm and ammunition without a gun license. Baldarez was remanded into custody until December 30. The incident occurred on October 29 when police reportedly entered the New Chon Sing Restaurant on North Front Street and saw a black and chrome pen gun on the floor next to where Bardalez was standing. The police said the gun contained one round of ammunition. Bardalez was unable to produce a license for the firearm so he was arrested and charged.
