Today the Police Commanders for the three areas of the Belize District along with investigators of the Crimes Investigative Branch addressed the media on three murders and five shootings that occurred over the weekend.  Earlier we told you of the double murder involving Porshan Pipersburgh and Tyler Savery on Daly Street.  Some hours after that incident there was another homicide where Andrew Williams was murdered in the Lake Independence area of Belize City.  Sergeant Gladimir Cu of the Crimes Investigative Branch briefed the media on the investigation so far.

GLADIMIR CU

“On Saturday the 12th of November sometime around 12:30am police responded to a shooting incident which occurred at the corner of Periwinkle Street and Mahogany Street where upon arrival police saw the motionless body of a dark male person inside a dark in color taxi car. Initial investigation revealed that while the driver, later identified as one Andrew Williams was driving down Mahogany Street heading towards Vernon Street when passing the junction of Tibu Street he was followed by a maler person who fired several shots towards the vehicle which lead to the death of the victim. An investigation was carried out into this incident, several persons were interviewed and statements were recorded. Where at the conclusion it lead to the arrest of a maler person by the name of Kareem Smith for the crime of murder.”

Other than that information there wasn’t much else that the Police would say despite the prodding from the media.  Love News had learnt that a relative of the deceased had gone to the police informing them of the threat on Williams’ life but police has since denied that information.
