As part of its strategy to curb crime and target the criminal elements of the city, the Eastern Division South of the Belize Police Department has launched a campaign that will look at the proper documentation for motorbikes since their observations have been that it has been one of the most common mode of transportation used by perpetrators of crime.  The police along with traffic officers of the Belize City Council will be looking at offences under regulation fourteen of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act.  Those found using a motorcycle without identification plates will be fined twenty five dollars; those failing to signal when changing direction will face a fifty dollar fine; those found guilty of improper overtaking will be fined one hundred dollars and those driving a motorcycle without a helmet will be fined twenty five dollars.  Officers will also be looking for valid insurance and ownership of the motorbike.
