Tracking Sugar Farmers and Keeping the Ghosts Out

To better track who delivers cane, where the cane comes from and how much of it is being delivered, a new system will be put in place. The Sugar Industries Management Information System, SIMIS, will be activated for the new crop season. We spoke to the Vice President of International Relations for ASR, Mac McLachlan about the system.

The coordinator of SIMIS, Jessamyn Ramos, explained how exactly the system is supposed to work.

According to Ramos, SIMIS will allow the farmers to keep proper records on their cane as it pertains of type of sugar cane, quality and yield.
