After operating in the capacity of Belize’s Honorary Consul to Chetumal for about six years, the Government of Belize has bid goodbye to Jorge Valencia.  Valencia’s term ended on Friday, December 2 in Chetumal, Quintana Roo.  Love News spoke with him today via telephone where he spoke of the role he played and the letter he received ending his consular post.

JORGE VALENCIA

“All I know is that I got a letter from the Embassy in Mexico, the Belize Embassy in Mexico from a Michelle Vanzie stating that my contract was terminated. In that position I have been there for almost 6 years. In my capacity I was the Honorary Consul of Belize for the State of Quintana Roo which we were looking after tourism, commerce, helping tourists getting into Belize, getting their visas and those things like that and that was my main objective.”

We have not been able to confirm who, if anyone, will be replacing Valencia in Chetumal, Quintana Roo.
