Last month, Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin allowed an injunction filed by the Belize National Teachers Union against the Government of Belize. That injunction sought to stop the Ministry of Education from withholding the teachers’ salary for the month of November. The teacher’s got their salaries but the Ministry still wants to dock the salaries of teachers who participated in the 11 day strike. The case resumed today and both parties were referred to mediation. Senior Counsel Eamon Courtenay, spoke on behalf of the BNTU.

In relation to the mediation, both parties have 45 days to see if that option works.
