Belizean artist, Berne Velasquez will be unveiling his latest project in the next few weeks. Yesterday Velasquez stopped by our studio where he spoke with intern Dan Cox about his latest work.

Berne Velasquez – Belizean Artist

“ Broken dreams tells a story of Berne who represents most of the artists in Belize, most artists can relate to the challenges that I face in Belize as an artist and for those who are not artists but are parents everybody can relate to what Broken Dreams is about. If you ever had a hard day you know what broken dreams is about. If you ever went to school hungry you know what broken dreams is about, if you have a dream in anything and feel that you cannot achieve those dreams and can’t reach those goals or achieve your dreams right here in Belize then you know what broken dreams is about.”

Dan Cox – Reporter

“So this movie broken dreams, how long have you been representing it, how long has it been in the works, how long has it  been in business for you?”

Berne Velasquez – Belizean Artist

“Broken dreams has been in the making for about two years now and broken dreams is not a project that was planned and written out and directed and happened,, broken dreams is a reality.”

Dan Cox – Reporter

“When do you plan on releasing this film? Do you want it to be released in theaters, on television where do you expect this to go upon release?”

 Berne Velasquez – Belizean Artist

“Broken dreams is going to get in the hands of the people I’m going to start of with the media playing so that people could see it, I’m going to take it to the schools the kids are going to have a chance to sit down and watch broken dreams then I’m going to be able to do a question and answer with them, they are going to be able to ask questions we are going to be able to sit, talk about their goals we are going to be able to talk about what they are going to have to do to achieve their goals and how they are going to have to overcome the obstacles that are going to come with achieving goals.”

Dan Cox – Reporter

“So basically what you’re saying is the end goal is no matter what your dream is you want children of problem upbringings to be able to feel like everything is possible even though sometimes it doesn’t seem that way.”

Berne Velasquez – Belizean Artist

“Right even though it doesn’t seem that way it is always possible, there is good and evil and you have to know how to use your good to overcome evil. You’re always going to have challenges in everything you want and in life you will always have to face challenges so yo just have to know how to overcome those challenges and when you have goals you can’t just expect that it’s going to come easy, whatever it is and what its going to take to achieve your goals you are going to have to be willing to put that work in to achieve your goals.
