Officials from the Ministry of Health had a meeting yesterday in Belize City with their counterparts from Guatemala in which they discussed an upcoming seroprevalence survey to take place with the soldiers of the Belize Defence Force.  It is a survey that will render HIV tests to the soldiers to look at the prevalence of the disease in that particular sector.  In that meeting yesterday was the Director of Health Services, Dr Marvin Manzanero.

Love News understands that the BDF was chosen for the survey since it is being funded by the US Department of State, Defence Sector.  Dr Manzanero explained how the survey will be carried out.

A similar survey was done back in 2010 among BDF soldiers which showed the prevalence rate of HIV among that group at one point one-two percent.
