A fire just after midday destroyed a two storey wooden house in Dangriga. Correspondent Harry Arzu has the story.

HARRY ARZU

“When it rains people run for shelter but when there is a fire especially like this one spectators run to it. Shortly after 1:30 this afternoon police and fire fighters were called out the scene of a fire on Wumagaru Street here in Dangriga. By the time they got there the house was already engulfed in flames and all fire fighters could have done was prevent the fire from spreading to nearby houses. However one house next door was partially affected by the fire. Love News spoke with Randy who lives in the house next door and who was also upset.”

RANDY

“I was sitting in my couch and I looked across to the neighbor because that house is very close when I looked at her house there was fire coming from under her house. So I used my hose to try to out her fire and help her out. Next thing I knew her fire got out of hand and started blazing on my house. They ran out of their house because they couldn’t do anything I didn’t run out my house I tried fighting the fire too.”

HARRY ARZU

“What do you think may have started the fire?”

RANDY

“I don’t know because I saw as if it was coming from downstairs of their house so I can’t tell.”

HARRY ARZU

“What part of your house got affected?”

RANDY

“The whole east side, thank God I had a pipe upstairs on my veranda that I opened to release water.”

HARRY ARZU

“As a result of the fire the ________ family lost their two story lumber house and all its contents including their dog that was tied underneath.”
