In early March we told you of 12-year-old, Amber McKoy of Grace Primary School in Belize City who had submitted a drawing to Mexico for a contest.  Her piece was one of about eleven thousand submitted from the region and was one of the fifty submissions selected in the honorary mentions category.  Yesterday, Mckoy and her mother, Pamela were guests at the Mexican Embassy in Belmopan where Ambassador, His Excellency Ambassador Carlos Quesnel Meléndez presented the standard six student with an award for achieving an honorable mention in the competition.  Amber’s drawing is being showcased in an exhibition that was launched in Mexico City with plans for a traveling art showcase.  This is the twentieth edition of this contest with submissions sent in from forty consulates of Mexico in the US; three in Canada; thirty eight in other parts of the world and thirty five from other diplomatic affiliates.  The theme of the contest was, ‘This Is My Mexico 2016’.  Amber Mckoy is the only participant from Belize to have received this award.  She is the daughter of Ted and Pamela Mckoy.
