A 16-year-old boy was detained over the weekend by police in Caye Caulker Village after the authorities had received reports of a crime in the making.  The young boy was reportedly looking forward to graduation in the coming weeks and had already been accepted at a junior college in Belize City when the school’s principal informed him that he would not be graduating.  The boy then reportedly concocted a plan to go after the principal but was intercepted by a teacher and police.  He was charged with threatening behaviour and was detained at the San Pedro Police Station until his arraignment today.  It is a situation that is seeing the involvement of the District Education Centre as well as the Ministry of Human Development.  Love News understands that there are some villagers protesting the charge as it could lead to a police record for the young man who was, up until Friday, aspiring to go to sixth form.  On the other hand, Officer Commanding San Pedro, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Henry Jemmoth told Love News that it is imperative that the law is also taken into consideration.
