Scouts Association Bestows Governor General with Lifetime Achievement Award

The Scout Association of Belize presented the Governor General of Belize, His Excellency Sir Colville Young with the Leopold Balderamos Lifetime Achievement Award. He was presented with the award on Monday in a short ceremony. President of the Association, Jersha Lennan told us about the presentation.

“This award is given to somebody of high degree of initiative, who has outstanding devotion to duty of an exceptional nature in all his private and professional scouting life. The award is normally given to adult members of the Scout’s Association and it was an award that was initiate to adult members on January 18 2016. These persons who are affiliated with our association who are quite distinguished and their contributions, support and participating in the association is par none. Mr. Leopold Balderamos himself was a very outstanding person, he was very outstanding to his devotion to family and friends in his service to his country and private organization. He was very committed to his professional career and he had exceptional service to the Scout movement. And so we recognized that our governor general who is the patron of Scouts has all these qualities and more and so he was much deserving of this lifetime achievement award.”

This is the fourth award that has been issued by the Association. Family members and friends of the Governor General and the late Leopold “Poli” Balderamos were present for the presentation.
