23-year-old, Hammon Lemoth is in an induced coma after being shot to the head last night.  Lemoth was working inside a barber shop on Central American Boulevard when the shot that changed his life was fired.  Clara Salman is Lemoth’s mother.  She heard the gunshot ring out last night just after nine o’clock.

CLARA SALMAN

“The only thing I know is that we heard gunshots and then we know we heard it come from the area near the barbershop where my son works and when we ran out there we found out that he had gotten shot. When I got out there the ambulance was already out there.”

RENEE TRUJILLO

“In terms of the shooting was it a random shooting or was your son the target? What have you been able to find out?”

CLARA SALMAN

“I wouldn’t know because he was only trimming somebody so we don’t know who the target was. All we know is that he was the one who got shot in his head and another young man got shot on his arm or something like that on his hand.”

RENEE TRUJILLO

“Have you been able to speak to him or has he been unconscious since his shooting?”

CLARA SALMAN

“Not conscious.”

While Lemoth’s mother is unsure if her son was the target, investigators have found out that his life was threatened the day before.  In speaking with us on this recent shooting, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams appealed to the general public to stop taking threats lightly and to make them known to the police.

CHESTER WILLIAMS

“From what we have been able to gather is that he may have been receiving threats from some individual from the day before. I want to sound this to the general public, in today’s era if you receive threats from anybody please take it seriously and come to the police. Often times when people are shot, injured or killed we hear afterwards that they were getting threats. If these threats would come to us beforehand we can step in, do interventions and see how we can prevent the threats from being carried through and it will save lives too. When these threats are brought to us after the fact we can do little about it so I want to ask the public that whenever they receive threats from anybody please take it seriously and let the police know so that we can address the issue.”

RENEE TRUJILLO

“Have you been able to detain the person or find out who made those threats to Lemoth.”

CHESTER WILLIAMS

“Yes we have that person in custody since last night and he is being interviewed. We have not been able to ascertain motive as to why Lemoth was shot. We still cannot definitively say that the person who made the threats are the one who made the act, the investigation is still on going.”

Lemoth underwent a surgery last night.  His medical treatment is far from over as his mother told Love News that he needs to undergo another surgery in Mexico and that will cost them dearly as Lemoth would have to be air-lifted to the medical centre.  The family is appealing for help in getting Lemoth flown out for further treatment; they can be contacted at 615-7061.  Lemoth was working at the barber shop for the last two months.
