Bert Vasquez maintains his innocence

Bert Vasquez who was found guilty of forcible abduction and aggravated assault was to have been sentenced today by Justice Adolph Lucas. But his sentencing was adjourned to next week. His attorney Oscar Selgado told the court that he would not submit a mitigation plea. As he was being escorted back to the holding cell, Vasquez maintained his innocence.

“Mr.Vasquez do you have anything to say?”

“I am innocent and I will fight this thing until the very end. Those who judge me let them read Matthew about judging other people because God can only judge me alone.”

“So the matter will be appealed?”

Bert Vasquez – Convicted of forcible abduction
“Everything will be appealed if I get found guilty.”

The sentencing was adjourned to Friday, July 28. The virtual complainant told the court that on May 2011, she was forced in a car by Vasquez who took her to Vista del Mar where he forced her to perform oral sex.
