Foreign Affairs Minister speaks on increased security at PGIA

We also asked the Foreign Affairs Minister about the recent travel advisory that the Government issued. In that advisory, the government announced additional security measures that it has been implemented on outbound passengers flying from Belize to the U.S. Minister Wilfred Elrington says it is because of the US Muslim ban.

“The Americans came to see us, the charge d’ affairs and another one just to brief us on the new regulations which they are implementing. You know because of this Muslim ban, well they informed their allied countries of the details of it officially. This is the practice of the United States so they would have informed all the countries who have relationships with them who they regard as allies.”

The Supreme Court of the United States says it will allow a partial enforcement of President Donald Trump’s ban on travellers from six Muslim-majority countries and all refugees until it reviews it in October.
