Police arrested two persons for Drug Trafficking

Two persons were charged with drug trafficking after Police conducted a search at a residence in Salva Pan. Correspondent Pauline Soberanis Tillett reports.

“Based on information received on Thursday at about 3:15 p.m. Belmopan police conducted a search for illegal drugs and firearms at a room located in the Salvapan area of Belmopan. Inside the room police discovered a suitcase with a large white plastic with green leafy vegetable substance. At the time of the search, two persons were inside the room, they were both escorted to the Belmopan police station along with the suspected cannabis. Their names were learned to be Mavin Alexander Vasquez Tores, 23-year-old construction worker and Carla Stephanie Navajo, 20 year old Belizean domestic both from the Salvapan area of Belmopan. The suspected cannabis was weighed and amounted to 200 grams. They were both arrested and charged with the offence of drug trafficking. In other police-related news, based on the information received at about 6:30 p.m. yesterday evening police conducted a search in the San Martin area of Belmopan behind a mechanic shop where two homemade .22 firearms capable of firing live round and one .22 round was found. No one was found in the immediate area. The items were labeled as found property. Police continue their investigation. The Belmopan Police would also like to thank the community for the information given to them and remind them that they can always send tips or call 9-1-1. The Belmopan police department has already started their Christmas Anti-Crime patrols.”
