This morning police reported that the Professional Standards Branch of the Police Department continues to investigate the allegations made against police officers attached to the Independence Village Police station. As we have reported, two women, a Belizean and a Salvadoran, who were detained on suspicion of drug possession, have accused officers of rape. They were detained on November 11. This morning ACP Joseph Myvette told the media that they have conducted medical examinations on both complainants.

“The examination proved that they were carnally known. The investigation is still ongoing. As I had mentioned to you at the last briefing there are some investigations that require more in-depth looking into than others and this is one of those investigations that have lead us in different directions or should I say there are certain inconsistencies that we need to clarify.”

ACP Myvette said the officers remain on duty as the investigation is ongoing but would not say how many officers are being investigated.
