Weekend accident claims one

Police are also investigating another accident that happened on the very same bridge over the weekend several hours before. It happened on Saturday around 9:45 in the night when 36-year-old Glenbert Reneau, a construction worker of Belize City was heading to Dangriga in a grey Honda Accord car. He lost control and fell into the creek. Two others who were accompanying him were injured. Police briefed the media on what happened.

“Glendale Ramos a Belizean Police Constable with regulation number 1520 reported that at about 9:50PM on the said date while he was travelling to Dangriga in a gray Honda Accord which was being driven by Glenbert Renea, 36 years of a Neal’s Penn Road address in Belize City and was also accompanied by Maria Ramirez 21 years old of a Neal Penn Road address. Upon approaching the one-lane bridge between miles 31 and 32 Reneau lost control of the vehicle and ran into the river. Reneau received serious head and body injuries and died on the spot. Ramirez received an injury to the left foot and Ramos received an injury to his right hand. Reneau was transported to the Western Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.”
