The ITVET compound was the venue for the People’s United Party’s national convention.  On Sunday Party supporters from across the country were bussed into Belize City.  The day began with a parade of supporters who met at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Neal’s Pen Road and made their way to the ITVET compound for a rally. Party leader, John Briceno said the crowd numbered more than fifteen thousand. He said this is just the start of the journey to regaining the reins of Government.

John Briceno – PUP Leader

“Today we have come back to the old technical college grounds to send a loud and clear message that the PUP’s is ready to lead and we are ready to win. We meet on this blessed Sunday afternoon as family and as an army as we march to victory. The task of every PUP is now to spread the word to our towns and cities, to the villages and the keys and to the four corners of our beautiful Belize that we have the best ideas and the best plans for this nation and that we are back in fighting form ladies and gentlemen PUP! On this occasion we reaffirm our commitment to our party and to our nation, our task is to serve the people so let the word go forth that the People’s United Party have never given up and will never give up on the work of building Belize.”

Briceno said the party must live its creed of social, economic and environmental justice.

John Briceno – PUP Leader

“It is the PUP that has and continues to believe in the strength and ingenuity of the Belizean people. It is our commitment to social and economic justice. Our uncompromising dedication to an authentic Belizean identity with true Belizean self-determination that has allowed our flag to fly in capitals all over the world. We the members of People’s United Party are joined together as a proud family fully aware that we built Belize and together we serve notice that we will never sit back and watch this nation suffer at the hands of despots whether they come from here at home or whether they come from abroad.”
