The first direct flight from Mexico City to Belize landed at the Philip Goldson International Airport on Saturday morning. The first arrival marks the start of the airline’s seasonal twice a week nonstop flight to Belize. Aeromexico’s flight 67 will be on Saturdays and Sundays, departing Mexico at 8:30 am and arriving at the Phillip S. W. Goldson International Airport at 10:30 am. It will depart Belize at 12:00 and arrive in Mexico at 2:25 pm. Loren Aandahl, S.V.P. Corporate Strategy at Aeromexico, said Belize has now become the airline’s ninth destination in the Central American region and the 46th destination in its international route network. He adds that the new route will help increase tourism in Belize. the Belize Tourism Board stated quote, “the new flight will provide an alternative route for travellers from the UK, France, the Netherlands and many other parts of Europe wishing to access Belize, and the wider Central American region, strengthening Mexico D.F. as a key regional hub,” end of quote. Aeromexico has served the Central American market for more than 11 years and operates more than 600 scheduled passenger flights per day, with service to 43 destinations in Mexico and 49 international destination from Mexico City. This is the first major Mexican commercial airline to offer such service to Belize.
