“Is there a theme for this year’s walk?”

Oscar Itch, Kidney Association President

“Our theme for this year is Healthy Kidneys through Healthy Lifestyle’s. We want to encourage the general public, mainly those who are in the Belize City area because at the end of the day we have a large number of persons suffering from diabetes and hypertension and it is proven that diabetes and hypertension are the two main causes of kidney disease and as long as we have those on the rise then we need to ensure that we educate the public about how to prevent the disease which simply doing enough exercise, drinking enough water, eating healthy and doing yearly checkups.”

Last year’s walk raised a little over three thousand dollars after expenses.
