36-year-old Anthony Crawford, who was found guilty of use of deadly means of harm with intent to cause grievous harm” was sentenced to four years imprisonment. Before he arrived at his sentence, Justice Colin Williams heard mitigation pleas from Crawford’s girlfriend, Lioni Williams and his girlfriend’s sister, Marsha Dawson, who both attested to his good character. Crawford begged the court to spare him jail time and allow him to pay a fine due to his poor health conditions. Crown Counsel Riis Cattouse in objecting to fining Crawford, stated that the offence border-line attempted murder since the victim, a minor at the time, was shot in her face. Justice Williams agreed with the prosecution and sentenced Crawford to four years, subtracting one-third of the sentence due to Crawford’s poor health condition.  Last Friday, a jury unanimously found Crawford guilty.  On November 13, 2016, the minor was shot in the face while at her neighbor’s yard on Raccoon Street Extension. A total of eight shots were fired at the minor, but only one bullet caught her in the face. Consequently, she had to be admitted to the hospital for treatment.
