2 min read

Belize is presently at the height of the political season as the March 7 Municipal elections near and the political camps have been relentless with their campaigns, sometimes turning nasty. One of the political advertisements that has been circulated is one where UDP Councilor Candidate Noreen Martinez, and who was formerly married to Minister Anthony “Boots” Martinez, slams the United Democratic Party in what is purported to be a leaked audio recording. In the interview with Area Representative Anthony “Boots” Martinez this afternoon, we asked him for his reaction to the ad.

Anthony Martinez – Area Representative, Port Loyola

“First thing let me clarify, I am before 2004 so let me clarify that so I have been divorced since 2004 and I don’t know about what was said. I hear the ad but it’s very distorted but I don’t pay attention that. I don’t worry about the noise in the market I check my change.”

“Political season what does it is looking like ? Are you taking out your voters for March 7th?”

Anthony Martinez – Area Representative, Port Loyola

“That is for sure. That is for sure and that will not stop me from doing what I do best. As a matter of fact I think we will have tremendous support leading up to the City Council Elections.”
