Since being appointed as Commissioner of Police in January, Chester Williams has made several changes to the Police Department. One of those changes that he is trying to institute has been met with disdain and it has to do with the appointment of the Chairman of the Police Association. Williams has made a decision that the tenure of the chairman should be limited to two term. Corporal Eldon Arzu, the Chairman of the Police Association, who has served in that capacity for 7 years is challenging that decision in court. This morning the case was called up before Justice Shona Griffith, however, it could not proceed since the application for relief of sanction was not filed. Stacey Grinage attorney for the claimant, Eldon Arzu, now has until July 29, to file the application. The case has been adjourned to September.
