Today the Belize Defense Force and Belize Coast Guard received Counter Narcotics sustainment equipment from the United States Government. The donation is part of the Counter Narcotics Program to provide non-lethal equipment and material assistance to Belizean Forces to counter the transfer of illegal drugs and weapons. The equipment, valued at $864,000 was funded by the US Counter-Narcotics Program Office and provided by SOUTHCOM via the US Embassy’s Security Cooperation Office. The US Embassy’s Security Cooperation Office also presented a main entry gate to Price Barrack, a project that cost one hundred thousand Belize dollars. The gate was constructed by members of the Belize Defence Force Light Engineers Company and members of the Louisiana Army National Guard. This is expected to enhance the security infrastructure, equipment, and personnel who live and work on site on Price Barracks.
