A Belize City man is lucky to be alive tonight after there was an attempt on his life over the weekend. Twenty six year old Supal Street resident, Nimrod Fitzgibbon was shot to the left leg on Sunday morning. Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino says that while no suspect has been identified, investigators are following all leads.

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino, CIB, Belize City: “Fitzgibbon indicated that he had just purchased food at the corner of Armadillo Street and Dolphin Street and was making his way on his bicycle on Fairweather and he observed an individual in the Queen Square Primary School and he then heard shots and realized that he was injured. Police have not detained anyone so far and the matter is under investigation.”

Inspector Ferrufino says that so far the evidence does not suggest that the shooting is gang related.
