An online news site based in the north had filed a news report on Tuesday, December 6 stating that the Belize dollar would soon be accepted for purchases across the board in Chetumal as opposed to just a few places in that city.  It is a report that even indicated that the Honorary Consul for Belize in Chetumal had confirmed the story.  Tonight, we can tell you that there is no such movement in place or in the pipeline.  Jorge Valencia, Belize’s former Honorary Consul clarified the matter to Love News.

“This story came out on Monday the 5th and I don’t know where that came from because it has been more than two months that I have given any type of interviews and the whole of the 1st to the 5th of December I didn’t give any interviews because I wasn’t even in the City of Chetumal. So I don’t know where that report came out. Right now I’m trying to locate the reporter that did it but I haven’t been able to get in touch with him. So as soon as I can we will try to clarify this. There is no truth to that story I don’t know where that came from, I have seen that there have been a lot of stories have been coming out with the late interviews that I have been given and they just change wordings around and they bring it out as news story.”
