Body found on Water Lane; police don’t suspect foul play

The body of a man was found early this morning on Water Lane in Belize City.  ASP Alejandro Cowo says that no foul play is suspected.

“In reference to the Water Lane male person that was found dead this morning. Police visited an abandoned lot on Water Lane where they found a male person apparently dead, the body was inspected, there is no sign of injury neither is foul play suspected. We believe that he is one of the persons that is always along with a group of other persons that usually hang and drink in that area. Some sort of liquor was found in his possession. At this moment we have not established an identity yet so we are appealing to the public if anybody knows him to come forward and provide us with any relative’s name or any particulars of that person.”

According to reports, he has been identified as 66-year-old Honduran national, Marco Antonio Cartenega. If you have any information relating to this incident you are asking to contact the nearest police station.
