Bus catches fire on the Highway

This morning as commuters made their way towards Belize City, a large plume of smoke was visible on the Northern Highway. A bus filled almost to capacity with employees of Transparent BPO was heading down the highway when it combusted before it reached the Philip Goldson Airport Junction. The driver of the bus, Branson Rhaburn told love News everyone escaped unharmed.

Jose Sanchez, Reporter: Where were you coming from and where were you headed to ?

Branson Rhaburn, Bus Driver, Transparent BPO: ““I was coming from Orange Walk headed to Belize City.”

Jose Sanchez, Reporter: And how many passengers did you have with you ?

Branson Rhaburn, Bus Driver, Transparent BPO:About 45 passengers. The issue is that the bus caught fire on me.”

Jose Sanchez, Reporter: Where was the issue with the bus ?

Branson Rhaburn, Bus Driver, Transparent BPO: “Right from the bus stop there.”

Jose Sanchez, Reporter: So it was overheating? What did you notice?

Branson Rhaburn, Bus Driver, Transparent BPO: “It just blew up in flames, I don’t really know what the matter is yet.”

Jose Sanchez, Reporter: You managed to pull over to the side.

Branson Rhaburn, Bus Driver, Transparent BPO: “I got everyone out of the bus. They came out through the backdoor.”

Jose Sanchez, Reporter: How long did it take before it got completely engulfed in flames ?

Branson Rhaburn, Bus Driver, Transparent BPO:Like in two seconds.”

Jose Sanchez, Reporter: So everyone is safe. Everyone got out safe and I guess they’re all at work now.

Branson Rhaburn, Bus Driver, Transparent BPO:Yeah”

Jose Sanchez, Reporter: How many people does this bus hold ?
Branson Rhaburn, Bus Driver, Transparent BPO: “It holds a total of 56 passengers.”

The bus was towed from the scene shortly after the accident at 9 a.m.
