Businessman loses property to arsonists

Corozal police are investigating a case of arson that happened this week. On Wednesday, 52-year-old businessman Sunil Talreja told police that he was awakened from his sleep around 2:30 that morning by someone who was calling his name. He got up and saw four men he recognized standing at his front gate. He told police that one of the men lit a palapa located in his yard on fire. The structure made of palmetto sticks and a thatch roof was completely destroyed. Other items under the structure including tools, furniture and miscellaneous items were also burnt. Talreja estimates his loss to be about fifteen thousand dollars.
