Calypso Rose: 1st Caribbean Artist to Receive Victoire de la Musique Award

Honorary Belizean Citizen and legendary singer Calypso Rose was awarded the Victoire de la Musique in Paris France. Calypso Rose received the award this past Friday for best World Music Album of the Year for her album Far From Home which was released in 2016. The album received critical and commercial success, making it the first album from a Trinidad and Tobago artist to be certified gold with a sales record of more than eight thousand copies. The album was recorded here in Belize and produced by Ivan Duran of Stonetree Records.

This is the first time a Caribbean artist has won the Victoire award. Calypso Rose is coming back to the Caribbean for a string of shows for Carnival season. Plans are underway for a concert in Belize in September. The album Far From Home is available at music stores and gift shops throughout Belize.
