What caused the fire that killed four persons?

The National Fire Service continues its investigation into this morning’s fire in San Pedro.  Orin Smith, the Station Manager of the National Fire Service, shared their preliminary findings.

Orin Smith – Station Manager, National Fire Service: “Earlier this morning Tuesday 12 June at approximately 3:30am at the San Pedro branch of the National Fire Service had received and responded to reports of a structural fire in the Escalante subdivision area of San Pedro Town. We had two units dispatched to that location. On arrival at the scene, found were two structures engulfed in flames. One single flat wooden structure elevated at six feet off ground measuring approximately twenty by thirty feet and another two storey concrete lower flat, wooden upper flat structure, measuring thirty by forty. Following a brief size up, the crew got into operation to extinguish the fire. Sometime after that fire was brought under control and extinguished. During the overhaul phase of the operation, we discovered four bodies that were said to be missing earlier.”

It is unclear at this time what caused the fire.
