The Ministry of Human Development, Social Transformation and Poverty Alleviation is preparing to introduce a project called YOUTH RISE with YOUTH being the acronym for Youth Resilience and Inclusive Social Empowerment.  The launch is planned for Wednesday, April 26 at the Delille Academy in Dangriga.  Funding for the project has been confirmed by the Caribbean Development Bank, CDB with the goal that the Youth and Community Transformation Project in Dangriga, San Ignacio and Santa Elena would be expanded.  According to a government publication, these communities are challenged by increasing crime and violence, anti-social behavior and limited access to social services.  It is the hope that the YOUTH RISE project will address these challenges by supporting the expansion of, and access to, existing social services as well as the development and implementation of new services so as to reduce social exclusion among youth and families in target communities.
