Central Bank and CWU signed agreement

The Central Bank of Belize and Christian Workers Union signed a three year collective agreement.  Security officers who are represented by the Christian Workers Union are poised to receive a ten percent salary increase. Representatives of both parties applauded the collaborative fashion in which the negotiations proceeded to conclusion and voiced expectations that the upcoming negotiations for the rest of the bank staff will likewise be non-adversarial. They also commended the role of the Labour Department in vetting the Agreement to ensure fairness to all and compliance with Labour Laws. Central Bank Governor Joy Grant and Human Resources Manager Timothy Grant signed on the Bank’s behalf. Second Vice President Clyde Young and General Secretary Floyd Neal signed for the CWU. Acting Labour Commissioner Paulette Wagner, along with Security Officers, Chief Union Representative Alex Ferguson and his Deputy, Sherman Crawford also signed the agreement. This new Collective Agreement runs from January 1st, 2018 through to December 31st, 2020.
