When Samuel Elias Zelaya Cosme’s body was found near the Haulover Bridge, no one could provide a motive for his death. The police were aware the construction worker was last seen in the company of a woman. So the police initiated a search for her, but it turns out she is not a suspect. The police say Cosme had trouble with his red pickup and the person he sought help from, committed the crime. Assistant Superintendent of Police Alejandro Cowo said the woman had helped them to identify and arrest the suspect.
ASP Alejandro Cowo, Crimes Investigation Branch: “What we know is that on that date they were at that location by the street near the Haul over when their vehicle was stopped by the road side and they had asked for assistance to pull out the vehicle; that is when they were in contact with a male person and that is when that male person went and assisted them and there something happened that lead to the death of Mr.Cosme. The murder investigation of Mr.Cosme the police has done significant advance in that investigation thanks to the cooperation of the public we have been receiving good information and as a result a male person was detained and is presently in custody.”
Yesterday (VO STARTS) 33-year-old Reainard Randey Ferguson of Neal Pen Road Extension has been charged with Cosme’s murder. Ferguson appeared today before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford.
