Home Crime Charges withdrawn from Kendale Green

Charges withdrawn from Kendale Green

2 min read

Twenty-four year old Kendale Green, a resident of Antelope Street Extension, charged wounding and use of deadly means of harm, was freed of the charges when they were withdrawn today. Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford withdrew the charges based on a directive from the DPP. The charges arose from an incident that occurred in August last year in which a woman, Margaret Ramirez was shot. Green is no stranger to the law. At the age of 17 he was charged with the murder of Nigerian taxi driver Francis Chukwu, who was shot and killed in his car while he was on Pitter Street. Four years later Green was acquitted of the charge in the court of Justice Adolph Lucas. A confession statement he had given to the police was not admitted as evidence because he had given the statement in the absence of a parent or guardian. Also, the main witness, Darcell Sanchez, testified that she could not remember anything. Green’s attorney, Anthony Sylvestre, then submitted that he does not have a case to answer to and Justice Lucas upheld it and acquitted Green.
