The PUP’s legal challenge to the March 7 elections results in San Pedro Town is being heard by the Chief Justice Kenneth Benjamin. We say “is” because while the trial began this morning, it is still underway with the cross-examination of Catherine Cumberbatch who was the returning officer for that municipality for the elections. The PUPs mayoral candidate Abner Perez and his team filed a claim against Mayor Daniel Guerrero and his council. The PUP is asking the court to determine that Mayor Guerrero and his council were not duly elected and the election in San Pedro Town was void. The PUP’s attorney Senior Counsel Eamon Courtenay focused a part of his time on ballot box CA. The PUP believes that 275 ballots of that ballot box are unaccounted for. This, the PUP says, is enough to affect the outcome of the elections. As we said, the trial is still ongoing and our news team is still at court. We will provide an update when it is available.
