An argument on Friday night has landed one man behind bars after he allegedly attacked and chopped another with a machete. According to police, officers found 26-year-old Ivan Hyde hospitalized at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. He had been chopped to the left side of his neck after he got into an argument with another man identified as 28-year-old Jude Moody. ASP Alejandro Cowo provided more details of the incident.
ASP Alejandro Cowo, Crimes Investigations Branch, Belize City: “What Police gathered so far was that Mr. Hyde was at the residents of a friend at 19 miles which is Sandhill Village. They were socializing when an argument ensued between a groups of persons that were there present in that gathering and as a result one of the male persons inflicted the chop wound to his neck. So far Police detained that male persons who was brought into custody and questioned and on yesterday’s date that male persons was arrested and charged for the crime of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm. The person name is Jude Joseph Moody of that same village.”
Jude Moody appeared today before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford where the charges were read to him. He was remanded into custody until August 14.
